Original Ideas

For my music magazine my first idea was to base the magazine around the genre of rap and grime. This form of music takes is often associated with rebellion and stereo-typically other forms of trouble. This form of music is very under-represented and the aim of this particular magazine is to therefore change that fact so more people become aware of the artists involved with the grime movement. It has been becoming increasingly popular through artists such as Krept and Konan, Skepta and a fair few others. I have chosen to take on this genre because of issues that circulate the music, for example with the Brit awards no musician who came under this genre of music was represented in anyway despite having headline tours selling out some of the biggest venues round the world. I particularly find this form of music interesting as it doesn't just speak about the stereotypical things that are associated with it but in fact the artists are giving the story of their surroundings and how this affects their life, although its not relate-able for me, I still tend to find their 'stories' if you like, very interesting. Also the genre is a lot more popular within this generation as comparison to previous ones and with the aspect of rebellion and trouble, I think it gives a sense of fun to the genre as the magazine can be a lot more urban and include various things such as brands or graffiti typed font within to make the magazine look particularly modern. Due to these reasons I have decided to take on the genre of grime and apply it to my own magazine.
